I'd like to give GM the benefit of the doubt that the ad was tongue in cheek.

But yeah, it's a fail. Typical buyers of electric cars don't go for irony, and need to be directly pandered to.

It was so brazen, that I wanted it to be tongue-in-cheek. Unfortunately, my cousin did a couple of driving shoots for the Cadillac STS, and it is not tongue-in-cheek. They are targeting a specific group of buyers. And we viewers all get to see what those buyers think and dream of. And it is puke-worthy.
Cadillac was aiming for uber-confident "hip". Yuck.

I didn't like either of them. I felt challenged by both.
"Hey, I am 'special'."
"Nooo, I don't think so, I'm 'special'."
Whereas, I am "Leave me alone."
