Wrong Hippe, Here in TN food IS taxed at the rate of like 7.5%.....it not taxed as much as everything else, the normal rate is 9.25%, but it is taxed. The real problem is capitalism vs. the finite resources Earth. Corporations are just a symptom, or product of captialism.
Take care,

. . . and Congressional priorities now reflect those corporate priorities.

So what got left out of the budget this year?

1. extension of unemployment benefits
2. any real infrastructure development/work
3. economy-stimulating alternative energy tax credits and subsidies
4. removal of Big Oil fossil fuel subsidies
5. removal of tax loopholes for the ultra wealthy
6. removal of protections for offshore tax havens
7. carbon tax and carbon reduction targets
8. increase in school lunch, child-care, elderly care programs as the economy recovers
9. not even an increase of the social security ceiling to $500,000 annual income.
10. no work towards a Constitutional amendment prohibiting private campaign financing
11. no work work toward a Constitutional amendment denying corporate personhood.

anything else?

Who are the real "deadbeats" around here?

The Democrats are on my scorn list too, they are clearly millionaires looking out for fellow millionaires and defending their hoped-for lobbying jobs after their stint as "public servants". A Pox on Hypocrisy.

. . . as in Florida Republican Representative Trey Redal who voted for drug testing food stamp recipients. He of course was busted for cocaine possession in November. After a stint in rehab, he declared he was ready for work in the 2014 session of Congress.

Turns out that just 2% of adult food stamp recipients were positive for drugs, far below the national average.

Trey Radel will not answer any questions about how he feels about his above vote.
