How does a site admin protect his core members from public opinion when they are guilty of fraud,
And anyone else can be banned on just a hint of misdoings?

No not the normal witch hunt for a core member "Lind"
EV has given him a pass for now.

Since I was asked to change the title, it might take awhile to find the right one.
I thought my original one was fair, since I'm quite a core member myself.
I'm really disappointed by anyone protecting fraud.
Anyone have any suggestions for title?

I am not sure if Ev and Jenn are protecting anyone here. Let it play out and see just what happens.

it *seems* like the admins have stayed out of this, as they should given what's been said thus far.

this Lind guy seems like a real piece of work.

Lind has burned people prior to this, and EV is deleating that history as it gets resurfaced.
Under the guise of the car wasn't sold on my site.
IF that we're a standard I could almost stomach it, but since his "policy" is not evenly distributed I call bull!
He has current threads in that section blasting business's that don't even sell on his site.
I'm wondering if he's going to update his rules.?

and yea, they delete stuff to keep friends and paying advertisers happy all the time.

I think they have deleted at least 5 or 6 different threads of mine relating to JakeRaby when I was calling him out for being a total asshole to bus owners in general.
Whatever, it's his sand box and we don't have to play in it if we don't want to.

Yes, people have been banned, not in this particular instance that I know of.
That's my point, Lind should be banned or should be encouraged to give his side.
5,000 bucks isn't chump change. EV would normally be ALL OVER Anyone else who pulled something like this.
Or do I not know what defines a community?

If owning a sandbox means you can encourage your friends to rip off noobes, I would say that's worse than the rants.
We're not talking politics, religion, or any type of philosophical discussion here.

So can you spell this out in black and white? Who is this guy and what did he sell and rip off a guy for?

I have sold parts with a ad before and been very specific in what it includes and what condition, pics etc. The buyer receives it and then blasts me for not including parts and pieces that were not part of the sale item but no its understood to be included.

So clear this up for me.

From my scan of that thread it looks like:

Lind offers Beetle project for sale. Buyer agrees to buy it and pay an additional amount to Lind for work to get Beetle running. Buyer pays in full.
Buyer expects Beetle to be delivered within a couple of months.
An entire year+ passes and Lind has little to no explanation.
Buyer calls out Lind on TS.
Lind gets angry and gives BS story/apology. Still no Beetle for buyer.

I'm not sure exactly how TS and Everett are involved?

that's just it, there was no ad posted, so it's all he said/he said thus far, with this Lind character opting not to explain himself at all and the other party providing every little detail they can.

everything screams that this is on this Lind guy because he isn't standing up for himself or explaining his side of this dispute.

the problem stems from work being done to the bug, apparently without them agreeing to it, that now he wants to be paid for. somewhere someone made an assumption and that isn't turning out well.....

the guy Lind is screwing over is the brother of a VW scene veteran, not some noobie. im not sure how Everett handled disputes in his feedback forums for transactions outside of his site, but if he's dealing with this in a much different way from previous situations and/or he's friends with this Lind guy then yea, that would be stupid.

A couple points

First is he acquired a barndoor bus in the same time period as took cash for said bug.
Does barndoor have said improvements ?

A note, this is could all go away in my eyes if there was a legitimate hardship in Linds life.
But the hardship would have had to been sustained for the last year and is current.

My thinking is thus solution?

A fund to help Lind or one to help Gabes brother.
I list Lind first since its just money coming out from the other side.
Lind may have an actual problem.
Time will tell.
