The metal line runs from one side to the other, just above the rear hatch. 5/16" brake line, slight "bump" flare on the ends to help secure the hose, along with proper FI clamps. The hose is high-test Goodyear fuel injection stuff, SAE J30R9, 250PSI rating. About $5/foot at Schucks. Don't cheap out with the non-FI hose, it won't take the pressure. And don't use worm-gear hose clamps either.

It's a close fit, but there's more room than it looks like there is. I can even adjust the mixture screw .. but can't get the camera in there to show where that is. Trust me, it's tight and a little tricky .. and I had to shorten the 3mm t-handled allen tool to fit.

Scored a bracket/splash guard from an '88 Fox. It's just sitting in the drivers-rear corner for now. Used the electric pump from my carb setup as a feeder for the high-pressure CIS pump, with a stock FI Bus fuel filter in between to 1) pre-filter the fuel, and 2) transition to the larger-size fuel line for the CIS pump inlet. More Aeroquip hose here; socketless A/N -8 (1/2" ID), gasoline rated, and good to 300PSI .. total overkill for this application.

.. one of the other things I did with the Bus. This was pre-cleaning.

I found this spiffy relay clamp/bracket in an aircooled Vanagon at the Redding, CA Pick 'N Pull yard years ago, finally got to use it. Works great.

Custom bracket for the Control Pressure Regulator, wires hoses & injector lines all over the place. I'll neaten up later, gotta make it run first.

Here's what I came up with to take the place of the S-boot. Piece of 2" ABS about 12" long, a couple of 2" street elbows, and a couple of 2" rubber pipe couplers. Need to glue the elbows & pipe together, but it's sealing well enough for now. Check out the white crutch tip capping off an unused breather port...

Four days out here, from about 8:30am (finally bright enough to see what I'm doing) until O-Dark-Thirty, which was roughly 5pm. Three of those days it was raining.

These working conditions sucked donkey balls. Big time.

Plenum installed, CSV/TTS/AAR installed, runner on 3/4 side torqued down with injectors installed. The 3/4 runner is different from the 1/2 side .. d'oh!

.. showing exactly why I couldn't use the stock Bus S-boot. Had to build something with 2" ABS pipe & fittings and a couple rubber Fernco couplers, works fine.

Hold the hose in a vice like so, slip the ferrule over the end, start the fitting into the line (inside the ferrule) and smack it home with a wooden mallet. Oh yeah, the end of the hose needs to be flush with the inside end of the ferrule, and the other end of the ferrule should be supported by the wood.

Aeroquip teflon-lined SS braided hose, size A/N -3. About $6/foot, and you'll need about 10 feet for the lines on the 3/4 side of the TIV engine. Re-use the ends & ferrules from junkyard-scavenged lines, but be aware that only *some* ferrules fit snugly onto this hose. Many VW CIS lines are larger OD than this, but the ID is the same on all of them.
